Overview
MAXIMIZE SMS ROI
The SMS ROI Calculator is an online, user-friendly tool that is based on prospect's data. It demonstrates how Yotpo's unique combination of features and pricing can boost ROI without requiring additional budget.
The calculator was originally built for internal use by CSMs. Realizing its value and potential to highlight Yotpo's advantages, we began the process of making it an accessible tool for everyone.
Marketers' pain points
01. High messaging costs with no results.
02. Sending generic messages to large audiences wastes time and money.
Our strategy is "send less, get more." Sending targeted messages rather than numerous irrelevant ones. It's about quality, not quantity.

The findings confirm that adopting "advanced experiences" can significantly boost revenue at a minimal cost.Using this data, the SMS ROI calculator was updated to include our competitive SMS and MMS rates, reduced inactive subscribers, and reinvested funds into advanced experiences.

The Challenge
NAVIGATING MARKET NOISE
In a crowded market, potential customers often struggle to see how Yotpo SMS stands out in maximizing the impact of each message compared to competitors.

The objective was to generate heightened interest in Yotpo SMS, leading to high-quality leads. The focus is on decision-makers who control the budget—marketers and executives.
SIMPLE, SMART DESIGN
After researching competitors, we recognized an opportunity to increase effectiveness.
Rather than limiting the tool to a calculator page, we opted to enhance its value by adding explanations on why Yotpo is the preferred choice.

The goal was to keep the calculator simple while ensuring it delivered a smart calculation. Clear and engaging results were essential to encourage users to explore further.
How does it work?
01. Users are asked to provide their monthly SMS spend and their monthly SMS revenue.
02. Click "Calculate" and within seconds, the numbers update, giving the impression that the results are generated just for you instantly.
03. Get predicted optimized ROI and revenue.
The calculation will show that Yotpo's SMS will keep prospect’s SMS costs the same, while driving far more incremental revenue and, as a result, increase their ROI considerably.
Top values the calculator provides
01
Help us in conveying Yotpo SMS efficiency with tangible numbers.
02
Gives us an opportunity to highlight and create interest around our top selling points for SMS.
When things don’t go as expected
V1
The initial structure included:
Calculator - 4 Tips - Checklist banner - FAQ section.

After launching, we gathered user feedback on the calculator and discovered that their understanding was not as we had anticipated.

We needed to rethink how to make the results and calculations clear to users.
V2
We decided to restructure the page and redesign the calculator to ensure users can easily understand the tool and its outcomes.

The restructure involves moving the FAQ section up, replacing the 4 Tips, below the calculator to make it easier to understand the benefits of using Yotpo SMS.
BETTER UX
The main issue was the confusion around the results, as users didn't understand that both the "Monthly SMS spend" and "Monthly SMS revenue" inputs influenced the results.

In the initial design, input fields were side by side with the results beneath them, which was confusing.

In the new design, input fields are stacked one below the other, followed by the results. This sequence ensures users first enter data, then press "Calculate," making the process clear and intuitive.
BETTER UI
In the initial design calculator was split into two sections:
1. Left side: a paragraph explaining the calculator
2. Right side: 2 parts for data input and results
To use the space more effectively, the new design integrates both sections into the calculator:
1. Left side: data input
2. Right side: results
The flow is left to right, with a "Calculate" button clearly indicating that data input on the left affects the results on the right.
High-level numbers
After refining the copy, structure, and design for better clarity and usability, we saw a 124% WoW increase in traffic.
We aimed to identify the primary sources of leads. The DTC newsletter emerged as the top contributor, followed closely by paid social channels, particularly Meta and LinkedIn.
